This means: all shops where Cuban residents can buy household appliances, car parts, motorcycles or cars. Try it out and send money to Cuba with the new AIS USD Card.
How can I get the green AIS USD Card?
There are two ways to get a green AIS USD Card:
- On the one hand, your Cuban family and friends can get a card at the nearest Fincimex branch. The card is free and you don’t need a bank account to apply for it! You only need to present an identity card.
- On the other hand, you can apply for a card quickly, easily and securely online via sendvalu.com – from anywhere in the world! Your friends can pick up the card they ordered online at a Fincimex branch in Cuba.
By the way: The card can be picked up regularly after 7-10 days at all Fincimex branches within Havana. In other Cuban provinces the issue of a new AIS Cuba Card can take up to 15-20 days.
Please note that your recipient with a green AIS USD Card can only pay in shops that accept payment in US-Dollars. Therefore, your recipient will not be able to use the green AIS USD Card in stores that only accept CUC and CUP. In these cases the usual blue AIS Cuba Card should be used.

In other Cuban provinces the delivery of a new AIS Card can take up to 15-20 working days. To apply for or pick up the AIS Card, your friends in Cuba only need an identification document, which they show at Fincimex.
Which AIS Card should I transfer to?
sendvalu offers the transfer to both AIS Cards, but which is the right card for your recipient? That depends entirely on his needs.
1st case: Your recipient would like to spend money on food, clothing or other daily necessities. In this case the blue AIS Cuba Card should be used, because only with this card you can pay in all shops that accept CUC.
2nd case: Your recipient needs spare parts for his car, for example. In this case the green AIS USD Card must be used, because only with this card you can pay in all shops that accept free convertible currency (MLC). These are shops that accept payment in US-Dollars, Euros or other currencies.
The same applies, incidentally, to major purchases such as household appliances, motorcycles and cars. Ask your friends and family what they need the money for – so you always know which AIS Card is the right one for their purposes. With sendvalu you can easily and quickly recharge both the green AIS USD Card and the blue AIS Cuba Card online. So the money for small and big wishes is with your loved ones within a few hours.
Does your receiver already have an AIS Card? Then you can also see from the card number which card he has. The blue AIS Card starts with the numbers 9550, the green AIS Card starts with 9560.
What are the differences between the AIS Cards?
The biggest difference between the blue AIS Cuba Card and the green AIS USD Card is the available currency. When you send money to the blue AIS Cuba Card, your recipient will receive the amount in CUC. If you pay on the green AIS USD Card, your recipient will receive the money in US dollars.
The second important difference is that your recipient with the green AIS USD Card cannot withdraw cash. The sent money is therefore only available via direct payment with the card. With the blue AIS Cuba Card, your recipient also has the possibility to withdraw the money in cash at ATMs, exchange offices or Cuban banks.
The quickest way to distinguish the two cards is by their numbers: the green card starts with 9560, the blue card with 9550. note that the balance of the cards cannot be viewed at ATMs or at the bank, but can only be accessed by calling Fincimex on 78356444
