What is the green AIS USD Card?
The green AIS USD Card is a prepaid EC card that can be issued and used by every inhabitant of Cuba – free of charge and without a bank account! It is a recognized payment method in MLC shops. How can I get the green AIS USD Card?
There are two ways to get a green AIS USD Card:
1) On the one hand, your Cuban family and friends can get a card at the nearest Fincimex branch. The card is free and you don’t need a bank account to apply for it! You only need to present an identity card.
2) On the other hand, you can apply for a card quickly, easily and securely online via sendvalu.com – from anywhere in the world! Your friends can pick up the card they ordered online at a Fincimex branch in Cuba.
By the way: The card can be picked up regularly after 7 days at all Fincimex branches within Havana. In other Cuban provinces the issue of a new AIS Cuba Card can take up to 10 days.
Please note that your recipient with a green AIS USD Card can only pay in shops that accept payment in US-Dollars. Therefore, your recipient will not be able to use the green AIS USD Card in stores that only accept CUC and CUP. In these cases the usual blue AIS Cuba Card should be used.

Which AIS Card should I transfer to?

What are the differences between the AIS Cards?
The biggest difference between the blue AIS Cuba Card and the green AIS USD Card is the available currency. When you send money to the blue AIS Cuba Card, your recipient will receive the amount in CUC. If you pay on the green AIS USD Card, your recipient will receive the money in US dollars.
The second important difference is that your recipient with the green AIS USD Card cannot withdraw cash. The sent money is therefore only available via direct payment with the card.
